Dear Parents, We would both like to offer you a very warm welcome to The Crescent Academy. This is a wonderful school and we are very proud to be Principals here. We have such polite and hardworking children and marvellous members of staff. We encourage all of our parents to become a part of our rich and welcoming family. Mr Alston and Mrs Williams
Attendance and punctuality are vital to a child’s development and the school works hard to keep rates high. If your child is ill you should phone as soon as possible to notify us. If this is not possible a note should be sent in when the child returns. (School may phone home if a child’s whereabouts is uncertain). It is therefore essential that parents give all contact details and are contactable at all times during the school day.
In cases of poor attendance the school asks the Education Welfare Officer to visit parents to discuss opportunities for improvement. Our Pupil and families Welfare Officer is on hand to help out when there are barriers to good pupil attendance and punctuality.
School starts each day at 8.45am and school expects all children to be ready to work in their classrooms by 9.00am. When children turn up late for school it can be distressing for them and awkward for the rest of the children within that class.
15 Minutes of lateness a day equals one whole year of education missed.
There are 190 school days each year and 175 other days for shopping trips, birthday treats, non urgent appointments and holidays.
One day a week absence is the equivalent over a school career of 2.5 whole years of education missed.
10 days holiday leave a year is the equivalent of two whole terms of education missed.
