Dear Parents, We would both like to offer you a very warm welcome to The Crescent Academy. We encourage all of our parents to become a part of our rich and welcoming family.
At Crescent we try to ensure that everyone is treated fairly. Our aim is to see that all children are given equal access to the school and its curriculum and all at Crescent are considered equal in the learning partnership. The school has an accessibility plan that is available from the office at 24 hours notice and this details how we provide equality for the wide range of groups which access the school.
At Crescent pupils will be prepared for an ethnically diverse society. The school works hard to promote racial equality, tolerance and harmony, by preventing and challenging racism. The school arranges many special events which celebrate cultural and ethnic diversity.
Relationships and Sex Education
Throughout the school the children take part in Relationships and Sex Education appropriate for their age. For instance, in the Foundation Stage children talk about themselves and their family, whereas in Year 6 children start to discuss changes from childhood to adulthood. At times visiting experts, such as the nurse, may come and talk to the children and it is the school policy that when children ask questions about themselves and growing up, the teachers will answer with levels of detail relevant to the age group.
