Class Visits

The children engaged in a tour of Middleport Pottery to see how ceramics is still made the 'old-fashioned way'.

They embarked on a heritage trail, learning about the history of pottery and the importance of this industry to our local area. A clay session was also held for the children where they made their own miniature bottle kiln out of air-dry clay. On the way to Middleport we stopped off at two sites (Festival Park and a residential area in Stoke-upon-Trent) to create our own primary sources so the children can compare these images to that of what used to be at these locations in the past (Victoria Ground - SCFC and Shelton Steel works). A day celebrating our local area!
