Middleport Pottery (Y3)

Year 3 go on a mini tour of S-o-T and visit Middleport Pottery

3NE went on a mini tour of S-o-T and visited the world famous Middleport Pottery factory as part of our Local Area history topic.

Most notably, we wanted to find out how Stoke has changed over the last 200 years, the impact of the pottery industry and ultimately why our local should be celebrated!

We kicked off by going to the location of SCFC’s old Victoria Ground and then to where the huge Shelton Steel Works used to be to see how different sites have changed and the reasons behind this.

We then moved on to Middleport Pottery to experience how the 134 year-old pot bank still produces pottery in the traditional way. The children had a historical tour and even made their own mini bottle kiln out of clay.

WORLD FAMOUS STOKE-ON-TRENT!! #proud
