Class Visits

We all strive for the top at Crescent and, during our first trip of the year, Year 5 reached the summit!

In our first unit of the year, Year 5 travelled to The Roaches, in the Peak District, as part of our Geography unit to learn all about mountains. We love to link our learning to our local area and, having learnt all about peaks and mountain ranges, we were able to visit the Roaches to bring our learning together. We had great fun getting in our steps as we travelled along the lowland and upland areas of the environment, scrambling over the rocks and, for our first visit and thanks to the expertise of Mr Davies, heading down 'the Devil's Plughole'. The weather held up mostly for us, enabling us to enjoy the day!

As part of our upcoming learning, we will be exploring the Alps – what they look like and what they are used for. To compare with the Roaches, we politely spoke to some of the local people who were also climbing the Roaches and asked them why they visited. This gave us great insight and will help with our learning in the classroom. Thank you to those that answered our questions! As ever, we loved getting out and about and starting our Year 5 learning with a trip that allowed us to work as a team and achieve together!
