Class Visits

We all strive for the top at Crescent and, during our first trip of the year, Year 5 reached the summit!

In our first unit of the year, Year 5 travelled to The Roaches, in the Peak District, as part of our Geography unit to learn all about mountains. We love to link our learning to our local area (we normally start with it but the weather had other ideas!) and, having learnt all about peaks and mountain ranges, we were able to visit the Roaches to bring our learning together. We had great fun getting in our steps as we travelled along the lowland and upland areas of the environment, making it to one or two summits as we went. Despite the weather, in 5HB's case, all 3 classes were able to reach the Trig Point to complete our walk to the peak of our local upland area.

We have been able to link our educational visit to our learning in the classroom to understand why people visit an upland area in the local area (as we talked politely to the locals). This then helped us to use our learning to understanding why someone would want to visit The Alps. As ever, we loved our learning opportunity!!
