Liverpool World Museum (Y4)

Year 4 children head to Liverpool on an Ancient Egyptian fact finding mission:

Liverpool World Museum has one of the best Ancient Egyptian exhibits in the country so we headed off there on a fact finding mission to help kick start our topic. The children had a tour of the amazing Ancient Egyptian collection where they saw thousands year old sarcophagus' with actual Egyptian mummies. They looked at the timeline of how the Ancient Egyptian empire came about and how important the River Nile was to the people of the cities created along the world's longest river. Then to top it off, the children performed their own mummification, learning about the ancient rituals and what the Egyptians believed happened in the afterlife. It got a bit messy! A great start to our new history topic!

Whilst we were there, we thought it would be a shame to not have a look around the aquarium, space centre and living thins exhibits. The museum staff commented on how polite and well-behaved the children were around the general public throughout the whole day. Well done!!
