It was as if everyone in Year 3 had won a golden ticket as we stepped into the magical world of Cadbury.
As we meandered around the tour, we first stepped back in time to learn about how chocolate was first discovered and brought to Europe. We then learnt about the Cadbury family and their amazing journey to make Cadbury's one of the biggest chocolate producers in the world!
In the factory , we discovered how chocolate is made and watched the workers adding chocolate to moulds. And of course there was an opportunity for the children to taste the delicious chocolate and write their names in the liquid nectar!
In the factory classroom, the children learnt more about the how chocolate is produced and they got to see how cocoa beans look before they are turned into cocoa dust and cocoa butter. The smell was delightful!
During the visit the children gained knowledge of how cocoa beans grows, which supports their learning in our current geography topic where we will learn about the perfect climate for growing cocoa beans.
