Chester Roman Deva Museum (Y4)
SIN, SIN, SIN, DEX, SIN...LEFT, LEFT, LEFT, RIGHT, LEFT! ATENTE!
The Year 4 children went back over 2,000 years and reenacted what life would have been like in Deva (Chester) once the Romans invaded and took over Britain.
They marched around the cobbled streets and city walls stamping their authority with army chants. Right next to the old Roman Ampitheatre, we stopped and created some Roman battle formations and tested them out against the teachers, who rushed towards the children to see if they could break the battle lines. Obviously, the teachers won!!
Once back at the museum, the children were immersed in how the Romans lived in Britain, experiencing the Roman baths to their markets and even their gladiator battles.
The children gained so much knowledge and this visit will be vital for the children being able to answer our main history question in the future: DID A ROMAN LIVE WHERE I LIVE NOW?
