Our Year 6 pupils recently returned from an unforgettable educational residential to Cornwall, packed with exciting experiences, new discoveries and plenty of opportunities to make lasting memories with friends.
One of the highlights of the visit was our trip to the Eden Project, where the children explored the wonders of the rainforest. Through an engaging, hands-on workshop, pupils learned about the importance of protecting these incredible ecosystems and the vital role they play in our world. They then ventured into the Rainforest Biome, immersing themselves in the sights, sounds and atmosphere of a tropical rainforest right here in the UK!
The children also enjoyed exploring some of Cornwall’s most iconic landmarks. Earlier in the day, they visited Land’s End, the most south-westerly point of mainland England, where they captured an iconic photograph at one of the UK’s most famous landmarks. They then continued their adventure to St Michael’s Mount, with its impressive castle, fascinating history and spectacular tidal causeway. This remarkable location provided the perfect opportunity for pupils to discover more about Cornwall’s rich heritage and bring local legends to life.
There was plenty of time for adventure and relaxation, too! The children enjoyed playing on the beach, spending time together by the sea and taking a refreshing dip in both the geothermal pool and the natural tidal pool of Jubilee Pool’s in Penzance. After their exciting pool experiences, the children headed to Penzance Cinema to enjoy a special screening of Toy Story 5, complete with delicious drinks and freshly popped popcorn!
On the fourth and final day, as the children began their journey home from Cornwall, we made a special stop in Bristol for an exciting game of adventure mini golf. It was the perfect way to round off our residential, with plenty of friendly competition, laughter and teamwork before heading back to Stoke-on-Trent.
This residential was about so much more than visiting new places. It brought classroom learning to life, strengthened friendships and gave our pupils the chance to make the most of their final year at primary school. We are incredibly proud of how they approached every experience and hope they will look back on their Cornwall adventure with fond memories for many years to come!
