Year 3 Take a Trip into the Past!

We took a trip through history by visiting Middleport Pottery, a working factory with a lot of history. This term we are studying the impact of the pottery industry on our city, how it created wealth and made us famous all around the world!

We ventured into an actual bottle kiln and saw how big it was inside. We found out how important the canals were in transporting the pottery all around the world and how the factory still makes its beautiful pottery using its traditional ways.

Of course, you can't come to a pottery factory without having a go yourself! We put on our aprons and made our very own bottle kilns!
