Imperial War Museum (Y5)
A sombre, poignant and fascinating final Educational Visit of the year!
For our final Educational Visit of the year, Year 5 visited the Imperial War Museum in Manchester. Linked to our History unit ‘How was my local area affected by the First World War?’ we took to a walking timeline to learn all about the key historical theme of war. We started by exploring the First World War, looking at uniforms, shells and all manner of amazing artefacts. We ‘blew away’ the staff with our incredible knowledge of the subject – I think we knew just as much as them! We then visited the Second World War section so that we could learn all about it and how it linked to the First World War – we’re now ready for our learning in Year 6! The amount of artefacts, facts, interactive elements and informative videos that we experienced meant that we ended our learning in the best possible way. An amazing day was had by us all!
