Do We Like to Be Beside the Seaside?

Year 3 enjoyed an exciting two-day visit to sunny Llandudno as part of our Geography topic on coasts. To answer the question, Year 3 definitely do like to be beside the seaside! The children fully embraced the coastal experience—playing on the beach, spending their pennies in the pier arcades, riding the famous Great Orme tramway, and soaking up the beautiful sunshine.

The overnight stay in a hostel was a big adventure, and the children were a credit to the school, receiving compliments for their excellent manners and behaviour. Of course, no seaside trip would be complete without eating some fish and chips on the beach! Keep your eyes peeled for those greedy seagulls though.

This year, we were lucky enough to visit three different beaches: Llandudno, the West Shore, and Conwy. It was very exciting to step inside the smallest house in the UK—although it was quite a squeeze!

Our trip also linked back to our History topic on the Stone Age, as we had the amazing opportunity to explore the Llandudno copper mines, which have been there since the Bronze Age. We bravely ventured into the dark tunnels wearing our safety helmets—it was a real adventure!

Back in the classroom, the children will now compare the features of Llandudno with those of the Amalfi Coast in Italy, developing their understanding of coastal similarities and differences around the world.
