The Bug Lady (Rec)
On 7th May, Reception had a truly exciting day when the Bug Lady came to visit!
As part of their learning about insects, the children had the amazing opportunity to meet some real-life creepy crawlies up close.
The Bug Lady brought a fascinating selection of insects into school, including beetles, stick insects, and even a giant millipede! The children were captivated as they learned all about where the bugs live, what they eat, and how they protect themselves. Everyone listened carefully and asked brilliant questions, showing just how much they’ve been learning.
The most exciting part of the visit was when the children were invited to hold some of the insects. With gentle hands and brave hearts, many of them took the opportunity to get up close and personal with the tiny creatures. There were lots of gasps, giggles, and wide-eyed wonder as the bugs wriggled and crawled across little hands.
This hands-on experience was a fantastic way to bring their topic to life, helping the children deepen their understanding of insects in a memorable and exciting way. It was a day full of learning, laughter, and curiosity—Reception won’t forget it any time soon!
