Do We Like to Be Beside the Seaside?

Year 3 enjoyed an exciting two-day visit to sunny Llandudno as part of our Geography topic on coasts. We played on the beach, spent lots of pennies in the pier arcades, travelled on the famous Great Orme tramway, explored the Bronze Age mine and soaked up the beautiful sunshine.

We loved stopping in the hostel where the staff said we were amazing! We enjoyed a delicious breakfast in the morning before setting off on another busy day.

We also jumped on the train and visited beautiful Conwy. We loved enjoying an ice cream and playing on the beach with our friends. It was also very exciting to step inside the smallest house in the UK—although it was quite a squeeze!

Our trip also linked back to our History topic on the Stone Age, as we had the amazing opportunity to explore the Llandudno copper mines, which have been there since the Bronze Age. We bravely ventured into the dark tunnels wearing our safety helmets—it was a real adventure!

Back in the classroom, the children will now compare the features of Llandudno with those of the Amalfi Coast in Italy, developing their understanding of coastal similarities and differences around the world. It was useful seeing the different parts of a coastline and it certainly will help us to understand it further.
